The Longview Police Department wants people to be aware of a new telephone scam.

The scam involves someone calling the victim on the telephone and telling them they are going to be receiving a new Medicare card in the mail.

The caller asks the victim to verify their information by telling the caller their social security number and bank account information.

PLEASE remember to never give out personal information over the phone to anyone.

If you feel that the call may be a scam get as much information about the caller as possible and call police to make a report.
