The next City of Longview Election will be Saturday, May 14, 2011. Early voting will begin May 2. Voters from District 3 and 4 will elect City Council Members, and voters from all districts will consider a street bond proposition.

City Council:
Candidates for City Council District 3 include Kasha G. Williams, Wray Wade, and Victoria Wilson. The unopposed candidate declared elected for City Council District 4 is Wayne Frost.

Early Voting:
Early voting will be held at City Hall, 300 W. Cotton Street, on the following dates:
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday, May 2 – Friday May 6
10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., Saturday May 7
8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., Monday May 9 – Tuesday May 10

Election Day Voting:
Voting on Election Day will take place 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Saturday, May 14 at the following locations:
District 1: Pine Tree Community Center, 1701 Pine Tree Rd.
District 2: Stamper Park Resource Center, 502 S. Center St.
District 3: Broughton Recreation Center, 801 M.L. King Blvd.
District 4: Forest Park Magnet School, 1644 N. Eastman Rd.
District 5: Spring Hill School Williamson Auditorium, 3101 Spring Hill Rd.
District 6: City Hall Lobby, 300 W. Cotton St.

Streets Bond Proposition:
As part of the May 14 ballot, Longview voters from all districts will consider a proposition that would authorize the issuance of a $52,600,000 bond “for the purpose of constructing, improving, extending, expanding, upgrading, and developing streets and roads, bridges and intersections including, utility relocation, landscaping, sidewalks, traffic safety and operational improvements, the purchase, of any necessary right-of-way, drainage and other related costs.” Voters may vote “For” or “Against” the proposition. A proposed list of possible street projects may be viewed at LongviewTexas.gov.
