There is no denying illness and old age are two factors that can effect the way a person live's their life. For one Longview family it seemed to become so much, they couldn't even take care of their home.

88 year old Winona Shelton and her son, 60 year old Marcus Shelton have both lived in this home for their entire lives. After a series of illnesses, the trash seemed to pile up around them. Marcus Shelton was admitted to the hospital on July 16 for complications with his liver, only two days later friends discovered his mother trying to survive on her own.

While the Sheltons are away recovering, members of the community are working together with local businesses to not only clean the Shelton's home, but also restore it to what it once was. Project coordinator, Sean Swanson, is the owner of Venue 717 in Longview. He says this project is just another way the Venue is trying to help the community. Swanson tells KETK there are already twenty volunteers on hand who are ready to get started on this big project.

One of the volunteers, Rachel Brown, says, "I believe that we can do a really good job in supporting the community in this way and being leaders in that kind of sense, is just helping others."

The home owners' two dogs are now with the Longview Humane Society.
