Longview shooting: Witness recalls scene outside restaurant
Longview, TX — Shelunda Willie says what she saw, in the aftermath of a Sunday shooting spree at a Longview home that left three people dead, won’t leave her mind anytime soon.
“It was one of the craziest things I have ever seen and is still lingering with me. Definitely one of the worst experiences of my life,” she said Tuesday.
Willie, an employee at Denny’s on Eastman Road in Longview, said she was leaving work just after 5 p.m. Sunday when a car pulled into the parking lot.
“I was getting off, and this car was pulling up. I didn’t think anything of it because it’s Denny’s, and there are always cars pulling up,” she said. “By the time I got out the door, a man got out of the car and started yelling, ‘We need help!’ ”
Willie said the man, later identified by Longview police as JaCorey Dewayne Williams, 22, called 911 as he was getting out of the car and told her the people with him had been shot.
