Longview street bond passes

Longview — The city of Longview has passed a Street Bond to repair roads.
The city will collect more than 52 million in taxes to repair roads.
The proposed list includes extensive repairs and utility relocation for three downtown streets; more than a dozen local intersections, including four Hawkins Parkway crossings; sidewalks on two South Longview thoroughfares; and improvements to dozens of oil-dirt roads and other streets such as South Green and East Cotton.
City leaders say taxpayers will see a maximum impact of about 1.6 cents on the property tax rate within three years. for a $100,000 house, the homeowner would pay an extra $16 in taxes per year.

Kasha Williams 593 votes with 64.81%
Wray Wade 275 votes with 30.05%
Victoria Wilson 47 votes with 5.14%
City Council District 4 (Northeast)
Wayne Frost was an unapposed candidate and delcared elected.
Streets Bond Proposal
Issuance of a $52,600,000 bond for the purpose of constructing, improving, extending, expanding, upgrading, and developing streets and roads, bridges and intersections including, utility relocation, landscaping, sidewalks, traffic safety and operational imporvements, the purchase of any necessary right-of-way, drainage and other related costs.
Elections results will become official upon canvassing at the Special Called City Council Meeting at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, May 19.
