Longview streets to receive upgrade

Longview, TX — City officials announced this past week which streets will see initial improvements under a recently approved bond package.
Longview voters in May approved a $52.6 million bond plan to add, upgrade, widen or renovate several municipal streets, intersections, sidewalks and utility lines.
On Thursday, City Council members approved a nearly $690,000 contract with Reynolds & Kay Ltd. of Tyler to upgrade several oil-dirt streets in the city.
They are Hunt Road, Jones Road, Lynnwood Lane and Swinging Bridge Road, as well as Delta, Mumford, Hornsby, Rainbow, Sunbeam, Rosedale, Birdie, Prothro and Edgewood streets. They are considered oil-dirt streets because, before their annexation into the city, they were constructed by Gregg County crews using a surface mix of oil and dirt.
