Loop 281 construction in Longview clears for holiday traffic

Longview, TX — Thanksgiving holiday shopping on Loop 281? Road construction officials say all lanes of traffic are open for business.
As promised, work crews are moving out of traffic’s way on a six-mile stretch of Loop 281 in North Longview. That is according to Tim Driver, vice president of Texas operations for Flint-based Knife River Corp.-South.
Since January 2010, Knife River has widened and added medians to the road between Shofner Drive and U.S. 259 North as part of a $19.9 million project funded with state transportation bond money.
“We will not have any lane closures on the loop from (today) through Sunday,” Driver said. “We want to minimize the delays/impacts to the traveling public as much as possible.”
