Lufkin area fighting scrap metal theft

Lufkin, TX — No one is immune to scrap metal theft — not even the businesses that create a market for it.
“Someone came in a while back and got us for $30,000,” said Guy’s Scrap Metal manager James Jarman.
When scrap metal yards are not dealing with this type of direct theft, they have to be wary of the legitimacy of items brought in by sellers. Because managers like Jarman know current demand for scrap metal creates a market for dishonesty, they work closely with law enforcement to combat theft.
