Lufkin — The Lufkin City Council on Tuesday approved a resolution denying a proposed natural gas rate increase from a Houston-based natural gas distributor.
CenterPoint Energy filed a statement of intent with the city on July 2 to raise rates, which would increase the company’s base revenue on an overall basis by about $8.6 million. The request represents an increase in base revenue of about 7.8 percent with gas costs and 18 percent without gas costs.
