Director of Theatre at Lufkin High School, Mark Keith, says there are 40 students involved in this musical including the crew.
"The production is completely student-drive. They do it all with the exception of the director, choreographer, technical director, and music teacher. The students build the set. It's very colorful, abstract, and unique. It's set in the 1950's so it doesn't get any better than that!"
The play is based off the idea of Elvis Presley being drafted into the war.
In the production, Conrad Birdie, is being drafted which affects a group of teenagers in Ohio.
Throw in an overbearing mother and some good laughs and you have 'Bye, Bye Birdie.'
