Lufkin ISD mourns the loss of Special Education teacher
Lufkin, Texas (KETK) — A Lufkin ISD Special Education teacher has passed away.
Lufkin ISD is mourning the loss of Janie Stanley, longtime Special Education Paraprofessional for Lufkin ISD, passed away this morning due to complications after surgery.
she worked with the special needs children at Herty Primary.
Herty Primary Principal, Kathy Jost, said, "We enjoyed her. She made a difference in our lives. We lift up her family at this time."
Jost met with her Speical Education staff this mroning and made provisions for the staff to take time and support each other. Counselors are also available on campus.
Deidra Harrison, Executive Director of Special Services, said "Janie was a true advocate for children, all children. I have worked with her for over 21 years and she will be greatly missed. She truly made a difference in the lives of many special needs children."
Funeral arrangements for Janie Stanley are pending at this time.
