Lufkin man charged with DWI after accident near hospital
A Lufkin man was arrested on a drunk driving charge early Monday morning at Woodland Heights Medical Center after a minor accident left him stranded.
According to witnesses, Brandon McAdams, 31, was driving along Loop 287 when he hit a curb and blew out two tires around 12:11 a.m. He then pulled into the hospital parking lot at their request. Three witnesses told the officer they were walking northbound on the loop when they heard McAdams’ truck start slamming into curbs directly behind them. The impact blew out the truck’s tires, sent it airborne and threw a lot of sparks from beneath it, the witnesses told police. They told the officer that had McAdams not hit the curb, he probably would have hit them.
