Lufkin ,Tx — A Lufkin man is claiming self-defense in the March stabbing death of his wife’s cousin.

Rodney Shepherd, 44, told authorities that on March 6 Frederic Gilmore, 58, of Lufkin came at him with a wooden level at a home at 908 Rowe Ave. He showed them a small red mark to his left forearm.
