Lufkin man in critical condition after crashing into jackknifed semi on Hwy 59

Angelina County, TX (KETK) — A Lufkin man was hospitalized Tuesday morning after her car crashed into a jackknifed semi.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, at 7:45 a.m., an 18-wheeler was headed southbound on Highway 59 when a car allegedly pulled out in front of the driver. In an attempt to avoid the vehicle, the semi, driven by Nicky Williams, of Gary, swerved into the northbound lanes and hit a truck driving northbound. A second truck was not struck by the 18-wheeler, but did run into a road sign.
One of the truck drivers, later identified as Michel Ochoa, 51, of Lufkin, was taken to a local hospital, then flown to a Houston hospital in critical condition.His current condition is uknown. No one else was hurt during the crash.
The wreck happened a few miles north of Lufkin near the Redland Theater.
