According to a recent livability.com article, the website has listed two East Texas cities as part of their top ten best high school football towns

Tyler finished fifth, while Lufkin ranks number one nation wide according to this particular outlet.

Cities were ranked based on community support, winning seasons, and state title appearances.

Lufkin has been a high school football hotbed for decades, while Tyler benefits from having one of the best cross town rivalries in the state between John Tyler and Tyler Lee.

But for those who grew up around East Texas football, they understand, this and any other list like it, could be filled purely with communities in this area.

"It's the same way in Henderson the same way in Nacogdoches all of them, those kids represent that whole city and the whole city lives and dies on winning football games," said Tyler Lee head coach Darrell Piske.

Tyler Lee travels to Lufkin this Friday night, while John Tyler takes on another community which could make a strong case to be added to this list Longview.
