Lufkin's sales tax revenue continues to increase in year-to-year sales

Lufkin continued its trend of increases in year-to-year sales tax revenue in December, according to a state comptroller report released Wednesday.

Lufkin showed an increase of about 2.5 percent, collecting $1,002,847 compared to $978,598 collected in December 2010.

“It’s a continuation of the positive trend we’ve seen in the last few months,” City Manager Paul Parker said. “I’m optimistic that this trend will continue.”
