Longview, Texas — Four people have been hospitalized after a major wreck in Longview Monday evening.

According to the Longview Police Department, shortly before 6 p.m., a car was headed south on Gilmer Road when it crossed over into oncoming traffic. A second car swerved, hit the curb and crashed near Rice Road.

It's unclear why the car crossed onto the wrong side of the roadway.

Four people were taken to a local hospital with unknown injuries.

Traffic was jammed for a short time while crews cleared the wreckage.
