Make a difference on Giving Tuesday
East Texas (KETK) — Tuesday is the day that charities are hoping you'll open up your pocketbooks like you did over the weekend, and make donations to them instead.
"Giving Tuesday", the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, was created in 2012 as a national day of charitable giving.
It encourages charitable support of non-profit organizations with the money shoppers save on Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday.
East Texas charities are hoping you will get involved, too!
The Salvation Army of Tyler will be participating in the 2013 Salvation Army World Record Bell Ringing Contest. Bells around the world will beginning ringing at the same time and continue until the last man is standing.
The contest will begin at 11am at Walgreen's on Rieck Rd. and South Broadway.
So, after you've spent yourself silly, you can make a difference this year on Giving Tuesday by making a donation to your favorite local charity!
How will you participate?
