Making room for Christmas gifts, donations rise after Chistmas day
(KETK) - Tyler Tx — While many may have used December 26th to take back Santa Claus' misfires, for others it's a time to give back, making room for the new, while not letting the old go to waste.
The days after Christmas are some of the busiest times for donation centers such as Goodwill and Plato's Closet.
Many use this time to make room in their own closets and storage rooms after the influx of new gifts.
But it's a trend that is welcomed in the community, keeping the unwanted items out of local landfills, while at the same time helping local businesses, and the steady stream of donations will stay strong through the first of the year.
Clothing is always the most donated item, but there are plenty of T.V.s, furniture, and other types of donations making their way into the warehouse and shopping floor this time of year.
