Man charged in death of College Station woman
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) - College Station police say a 9-year-old boy who had been stabbed called his grandmother to say a man had just killed his mother and "choked" him.
Police say 45-year-old Stanley Lamar Griffin was jailed Tuesday on charges of murder, injury to a child with serious bodily injury and parole violation. Bond was $500,000.
A probable cause statement says Griffin was arrested Monday at a relative's home, hours after the body of 29-year-old Jennifer Hailey was discovered in her home, along with her wounded son, Cameron Lockhart.
The boy underwent surgery Monday. A College Station Medical Center spokesman said he was in stable condition Tuesday.
A friend of the slain woman told police that Griffin was homeless, knew Hailey and about three weeks ago he asked to move in with her, but she refused.
