East Texans involved in crashes involving Pedestrian, 1 dead

Crashes in Longview and Tyler

***UPDATE: TYLER POLICE DEPARTMENT***

Tyler police responded to the 1700 block of SSE Loop 323 on a report of a female pedestrian that was struck by a Chevy pick-up traveling southbound on Loop 323, while standing on a raised median waiting to cross the street.

Investigators were told that Victoria Alison Miles, W/F, age 25, was walking back to work at the Valero Gas Station from the Regions Bank where she withdrew money. Miles was standing on the raised median waiting for traffic to clear when a blue 2007 Chevy Silverado traveling southbound drove up onto the median striking a street sign and then Miss Miles. The driver of the Chevy pick-up failed to stop and render aid and fled the scene of the accident.

Officers spotted and stopped the suspect vehicle driving southbound on Troup Hwy just before entering Whitehouse. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Gerald Lane Bourque, W/M, age 45 of Smith County. Officers determined that Bourque was under the influence of alcohol and was placed under arrest on the scene for Intoxication Manslaughter.

Victoria Miles was transported to East Texas Medical Center and died as a result of her injuries.

Witnesses at the scene stated that when Miss Miles was struck her money went flying into the air. Two B/M subjects stopped and got out of their vehicle and recovered several currency bills and then drove off. TYLER — Police are on Loop 323 near 5th street attending to a crash where a car hit a man.

Officers say a Valero Employee was trying to cross the street to Regions Bank when a car hit her.

Her body was found 20 feet from where she was hit.

The driver tried to drive off, but police found him at another lcoation.

They say alcohol was a factor.

The woman is in critical condition.

LONGVIEW — Police in Longview are also working a crash where a car hit a man on a bicycle. According to their Twitter page, The accident happened around 2 this afternoon at the intersection of 7th and East Marshall.
