San Antonio, TX — San Antonio police on Monday identified a man who was shot and killed during an apparent road rage incident on the city's Southside Side.
According to a preliminary report, Nicholas Leigh Bosmans, 35, died at San Antonio Military Medical Center. Another man was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Investigators said a black Jeep Wrangler and a gold vehicle were heading westbound on Southeast Military Drive just before 7 p.m. Sunday, when an altercation of some sort occurred and shots were fired.
Two people inside the Jeep were shot. The vehicle crashed in a parking lot in the 2700 block of Southeast Military Drive, where it took out a stop sign. Two other people inside the Jeep were not injured, according to police.
Tito Fernandez and Chris Dyer were nearby and immediately came to the aid of the victims. "I heard the first shot and then I turned around and heard a couple more shots, then I ran out," said Fernandez. "He was shot on the side in the lung area by the ribs."
Fernandez went to the driver's side, pulled the man out of the vehicle and began giving him CPR. "I swallowed blood, I spit it back out. I was trying to keep him alive," said a distraught Fernandez.
The two men said the shots came from the back of gold-colored vehicle. Police are searching for that vehicle.
