Man killed in Cherokee County logging accident

A Cherokee County logging accident killed one man on Sunday afternoon.

The accident happened just before 3:00pm on Hwy. 21 East at the Angelina River bridge.

First responders from Douglas VFD and Nacogdoches EMS arrived to find 38 year old Jimmy Charles Young, Jr, dead at the scene.

Young had been working with other loggers to clear trees on a property owned by William Carroll Hollis of Alto, when a large tree he was cutting fell on top of him.

A co-worker used equipment to move the tree, while another called 9-1-1.

Details of the accident are not being released at this time, pending the outcome of the investigation.
