LONGVIEW - A man is dead after being hit by a truck this morning in Gregg County.

Longview Police and Department of Public Safety Officials say it started when a DPS trooper slid on Estes Parkway. He lost control of his vehicle on the slick road, smashed into a fence and hit a natural gas meter.

Police say two drivers saw the wreck and stopped to check on him. That's when a large truck pulling a trailer lost control of his vehicle and hit one of the men who had stopped to check on the trooper. Officers say that driver also hit three other pickup trucks.

The identity of man killed in the wreck hasn't been released yet.
