Man pleads guilty in 2009 stabbing morning of jury trial

Lufkin, Texas — Although a jury was in place to hear his testimony of a 2009 stabbing incident, Jose Flores Jr. accepted a last minute plea deal with his 1-year-old son in mind.
According his attorney Al Charanza, with a punishment range of up to 99 years in prison looming over his head, the 30-year-old who now lives in Eagle Pass, opted to forgo the jury trial and take a plea bargain for 15 years in prison from prosecutor Dale Summa.
