Marquel Jermon Scott, 33, of Tyler, was sentenced on Wednesday to 80 years in prison for the shooting death of a man outside of a Tyler club.

A Smith County jury found Scott guilty on Tuesday.

He shot two men outside of The Hyena Club on the 2100 block of North Grand in Tyler back in November of 2012.

One victim, 26 year old Keeston Dwone Fields, died at a hospital from the injuries he sustained in the incident. Another victim, 33 year old John T. Woods, was also hospitalized for some time.

Police searched for the shooter for several days. Eventually, Scott turned himself in to authorities and was charged with Murder and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

A mistrial was declared for Scott's case in early December 2013, due to a problem with a witness statement. However, the trial was rescheduled and the guilty verdict came down on Tuesday night.
