Tyler police were called to the area of Brookhaven and Timberlane Street around 11:30 a.m., Sunday, March 14, 2009 on a report of an older W/M attempting to pick up a young female.

Police interviewed a 16 year-old female who stated she was walking down the street taking pictures for a school project. The suspect drove up behind her and was following her driving very slowly. The suspect asked her if she wanted a ride and then stated that he wanted to have sex with her at his house and for her to get into the vehicle. A witness in the neighborhood observed the incident and came to the assistance of the young female until police arrived.

The suspect is described as a W/M, 55 to 65 years old, white hair, balding on top of head, thin to medium build, clean shaven and no glasses. He was driving an older model 2000 to 2006, White, Toyota Tacoma, regular cab pick-up.

Investigators are checking the local sex-offender data base for anyone matching the suspect
description and vehicle. Anyone with information related to a person matching this description driving this type of vehicle is urged to contact the Tyler Police Department at 903-531-1000.
