Man turns himself in after shooting wife, man

Tyler Police responded to a shooting in the 600 block of S. Lyons around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. When officers arrived on the scene, the victims and suspect had already left the area where the shooting occurred.

Police were contacted by two local hospitals advising that they had each received a gunshot victim in their emergency room. The first victim was identified as 35-year-old Shamika Miller, B/F, of Tyler. Miller was transported to Trinity Mother Frances Hospital by private vehicle and was treated for one gunshot wound. Miller is currently listed in stable condition. The second victim was identified as 34-year-old Jonathan Paul Hart, B/M, of Tyler. Hart was transported to a local hospital by private vehicle and was treated for four gunshot wounds. Hart is currently listed in critical condition.

Officers on the scene of the incident stated that the suspect showed back up and told the officers he was involved in what had occurred. The suspect is identified as 38-year-old James Earl Miller Jr., B/M, of Tyler. Investigators determined that Miller had followed Shamika miller (his wife), and Jonathan Hart from his residence and got into an altercation in the 600 block of S. Lyons. Miller pulled out a revolver and fired several shots at both subjects.

James Miller Jr. was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and was transported to Smith County Jail.

This case is still under investigation.
