A Marshall man with a warrant for violating his parole was arrested Thursday afternoon in Harrison County after a chase involving multiple law enforcement agencies.

Marshall police arrested 29-year-old Jessie James Washington III about noon after officers attempted to stop him for running a stop sign, Assistant Chief Leland Benoit said.

Benoit said Washington disregarded a stop sign at the intersection of Wood Street and West Houston Street.

"Marshall police attempted to detain the driver who appeared to be complying at first but then sped away from the officer," Benoit said in a press release.

The chase continued on U.S. 80 toward Hallsville until Washington came to a stop near Fire Tower Road and fled on foot.

He was arrested a short time later.
