More charges to be filed in deadly day care fire
HOUSTON (AP) - Prosecutors say they plan to file nine more
charges against a Houston day care operator who left the children
she was watching alone when a deadly fire started at the facility.
The blaze killed four children.
Twenty-two-year-old Jessica Tata already has been charged with
reckless injury to a child.
Harris County District Attorney Pat Lykos said Tuesday that her
office plans to file six more similar charges along with three
other charges of child endangerment.
A probable cause affidavit made public Tuesday says surveillance
video shows Tata was shopping at a store near the facility when the
Investigators believe last week's fire was started by a stove
top burner that had been left on.
Authorities say Tata has fled to Nigeria and they are working to
