UPDATED: Sunday, November 3, 2013 - 11:24am, the beleaguered Obamacare federal insurance exchange website, will be down for "extended maintenance" Saturday night as a government technology team works to correct the problems that have plagued it over the past month.

Health and Human Services spokeswoman Joanne Peters said the maintenance aims to "improve network infrastructure and make enhancements to the online application and enrollment tools."

As a result, warned Peters, "The Federal Data Services Hub and FFM application and enrollment tools will be unavailable" from 9 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday.

The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the agency behind the website's launch and subsequent repairs, has taken the site down in the past for improvements, usually overnight.

In a conference call with reporters Friday, Jeffrey Zients, the project's lead coordinator, said his team made improvements over the past week, focusing on increasing the speed and functionality of the application process and working to address issues with "834" notices -- crucial data the site must send to insurance companies in order for customers to be enrolled.

"The site will get better week by week," said Zients, "and by the end of November, the site will work smoothly for the vast majority of users."

While the site is down, the Department of Health and Human Services is directing people to apply by phone.

It is going to get worse alot worse!

Over 50 percent will have their polices canceled due to gov. regs forcing the insurance companies to cancel them. They will ALL pay higher premiums. And those who cannot pay will go bankrupt. When gas prices are high and mortgage is due, just add another unexpected $200 - $400 a month and you will see another housing collapse. Another recession (as if we are out of the current one.)

Yes Obamacare will cause another economic collapse.

Hope for change 2014.

Phone call between Obama and George Kaiser: Obama; "Nobody is signing-up to my healthcare plan, this charade of computer glitches can only go on so long". George Kaiser replies; " Ok, Ok hold your mule, I'll start sending out millions of termination notices". Americans without an honest government are no better than Somalian's.

Outage is not a correct word for "planned maintenance." An outage is unplanned like a storm "power outage". Companies such as banks & utilities have "planned maintenance" where services are not available. Admittedly, the ACA sight has not performed as advertised. However, that is now in the rear view mirror. It is important to look ahead. It's the law of the land for good or ill. As Americans we should all be wanting the best for all. ACA is imperfect yet, NO ONE has offered a better option.
