Tyler, TX — More people will be spending and traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday.

People are feeling very confident with the economy this holiday season.

Even though airfare prices are up, it's not stopping people from booking flights. Some people are choosing to travel by car than air.

AAA reports, more than 90% of people will be traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday.

KETK spoke with travel experts from Travelocity and TripAdvisor Thanksgiving giving travel.

"Throughout the entire holiday season, you can expect to see an increases amount of people taking to the roads and flights in the air. Now, we've found that AAA expect 43-Million travelers during Thanksgiving season, that's a a slight increase from last year," says Courtney Scott, Senior Editor of Travelocity.

Airfare is up 9%, Travelocity tells KETK, the average domestic round-trip airfare is close to $400. If you choose to fly, it's good to make reservations as soon as possible.

Gasoline prices have fallen just in time for the holiday.

"That might be a part of the rising airfares. About 35% of people who said that airfare impacted their Thanksgiving travel said they were choosing to drive instead of fly."

AAA reports, the average price at the pump across Texas was just more $3.00 per gallon. Nationwide gasoline prices are down 3-cents.

Travel surveys show, travelers will drive at "off-peak" hours to avoid the worst holiday traffic.

Travel experts says, your smartphone will come in handy for traveling. Travelers can check their flight status, weather, research restaurants, and use their phone for GPS navigation.
