Morning wreck ends in death

On Wednesday February 17, 2010 at around 6:44 a.m., Longview Officers
responded to a major accident in the 800 block of State Highway 31 South.
Officers arrived to find that a 2007 GMC pick-up truck had collided with a 2005 Dodge Neon passenger car and that the driver of the Neon appeared to be seriously injured.
The driver of the Neon, 56-year-old Charles Oliver Ellis of Longview, was
transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center by the Longview Fire
Department/EMS with life threatening injuries and died shortly after his arrival.
The driver of the GMC pick-up, 27-year-old Rogelio Tomas Moreno of Longview, received non-life threatening injuries and did not require transport to the hospital.
Witnesses reported that Ellis had attempted to cross State Hwy 31 from Jaycee and pulled out in front of Moreno’s pick-up.
Gregg County Justice of the Peace B.H. Jameson pronounced Ellis dead at
approximately 7:20 a.m. There were no charges filed as a result of this accident.
