Morning wreck in Longview involves officer; Shuts down portion of Loop 281

Update: Longview Police tell KETK Snyder was in surgery around 4 p.m.

The other two people involved in the accident are in stable condition.

The area of Loop 281 that was blocked is now open.


Longvew Police tell KETK that a morning wreck in Longview closed down the 5000 block of West Loop 281.

Longview Police Officer Leigh Ann Snyder had a passenger in her car and was hit head on by another car.

The jaws of life were used to extract Snyder and her passenger from the car after they were unable to exit the vehicle.

Police tell KETK Snyder sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Snyder's passenger, as well as the driver of the other vehicle, were also taken to the hospital with injuries.

Loop 281 between Birdsong and Sabine is still closed down while police investigate the incident.
