Motorcycles cruise through city on annual ride to nation’s capitol
Longview — The roar of 300 motorcycles prompted the cheers of dozens of spectators Sunday as riders motored into Longview as part of the 26th annual Run for the Wall.
The noon stop at the Exhibit Building of Maude Cobb Convention Center marked the fifth day of a 10-day cross-country ride to promote healing among veterans and remember soldiers both killed and missing in action.
Run for the Wall will conclude May 23 at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.
Roger “Cowboy” Mead, 74, of El Paso, said Sunday that he has been part of the motorcycle ride every year since 1989.
