Nacogdoches crime reduction tied to goals

Nacogdoches, TX — In the last couple of years, goal-setting done by the Nacogdoches Police Department has been attributed, in part, to the reduction in crime, Chief Jim Sevey said.
The reduction can be seen in measurable ways when looking at the crime statistics from 2009 to 2011, which were presented to the
Burglary of motor vehicle crimes in 2009 totalled 430, that number was 378 in 2010 and 259 in 2011.
“In 2007, we started formally writing goals and objectives, and we did our goals based on known crime problems,” Sevey said. “Burglaries of motor vehicles were specifically identified, and we started talking about ways to decrease that particular crime.”
