One Nacogdoches High School senior received the surprise of a lifetime Thursday when his military deployed brother appeared at a graduation rehearsal.

NHS senior Andrew Watson, a student with learning differences, went to the William R. Johnson Coliseum with fellow seniors to get an advance look at the graduation site and rehearse for the big night.

As Andrew took his turn to practice crossing the stage, big brother Cpl. William Watson stepped out from behind the stage curtain.

Andrew broke out in a sprint with his arms open wide the moment he spotted William, they embraced on the stage and the brothers shared a lengthy hug.

The siblings’ mother orchestrated the reunion with some cooperation from William’s employers. The Marine caught a red-eye flight from California to Texas to arrive the day before his younger brother graduates. William had been deployed overseas since September and returns to his post Monday.

The mother learned two weeks ago that her deployed son could make it to Nacogdoches and set the wheels in motion for a truly special moment.
