Nacogdoches high schoolers learn about options at College Day
AS REPORTED IN THE NACOGDOCHES DAILY SENTINEL:
The Nacogdoches High School gymnasium was full of college admissions counselors, high schoolers and college pamphlets Wednesday afternoon for College Day. Juniors and seniors had the opportunity to ask counselors around the room questions about each school and possibly narrow down their college choices.
Spencer Schacht, admissions counselor for Texas Tech University, was present to tell students about the opportunities Tech has to offer.
"The biggest thing I've come across coming from Texas Tech is that it's a long way away," he said with a laugh. "Nothing is too far, though. You're getting a great education, so it's well worth it."
Chad Wyley, admissions counselor from Texas Wesleyan University, handed out information to students Wednesday afternoon.
"We know not every student will be a right fit for Texas Wesleyan, and Texas Weslyan will not be a good fit for every student, but we hope to educate students and give them the tools and resources to help them make an informed decision on what college is right for them," he said.
Wyley provided information for potential students ranging from financial aid information to different majors, sports, activities and admission requirements.
"These will tell them anything and everything they need to know about the university," he said.
