Nacogdoches students to benefit from STAAR deferment

Nacogdoches, TX — A recent ruling by the education commissioner to defer the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, or STAAR, grading requirement is “great news” for Nacogdoches ISD students.
Texas Commissioner of Education Michael L. Williams announced Friday that he would defer implementation of the 15 percent STAAR grading requirement. Under the requirement, a student’s score on the exams would count 15 percent of the student’s final grade in each tested subject area.
