Smith County DPS releases the names involved in the fatal accident on FM 848.

DPS tells KETK the accident happened just before noon Monday on FM 848, three miles north east of Whitehouse.

Officials say the accident involved 3 vehicles, a 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle a 2006 semi and a 2008 Honda Accord.

Officials say the motorcycle and the accord were heading southbound and the 18 wheeler was heading northbound, when the motorcycle clipped the 18 wheeler coming around the curve.

The motorcycle then broke in half and caught on fire.

A piece of the motorcycle flew back hitting the Honda Accord.

The motorcyclist died on scene.

He has been identified as 26 year old Derek Simoneaux.

The driver of the Honda was the victim's wife Maricela Simoneauz both from Corpus Christi.


KETK has confirmed the fatal wreck involved an 18-wheeler and a motorcycle. The motorcyclist was killed in the collision.


Smith County DPS tell KETK, they are on the scene of a fatal accident on Bascom Rd., between Tyler and Whitehouse.

The accident is just north of County Road 2220.

No word yet on how many cars are involved, or if there are any other injuries.

However, witnesses tell KETK, there is an 18 wheeler and at least one other vehicle involved.

Bascom Rd. is partially blocked so that crews can clear the scene.

KETK has a crew en route and will provide more information as it becomes available.

I want you to know I left my house at 1200 pm and drove to Bascom Rd. on October 9th because I thought it may be some of my relatives, as we live on Bascom Rd. When I saw this right on the headliner, I didnt stop and look to see the date. I was nausated at my stomach I was so worried. Do you think this is wise to put this on the first page you show, I am a heartattack victim and I was very scared that it may be some of my family, you need to explain a little more as to when it is happening...
