We all long for our kindergarten days when we could kick back for a nice nap in the middle of the day, but new studies show that afternoon nap may not be as good as it sounds.

Researchers say that for people with existing sleep disorders like Insomnia, catching a few midday z's may perpetuate their problem.

People who have poor sleeping habits because of stress, sickness or even jet lag should not nap during the day because it affects your ability to sleep at night.

Local doctors say, we need all the night-time sleep we can get.

Doctor James Stocks tells KETK, "The reality is, most of us cheat ourselves on the amount of sleep we get at night. So in the afternoon or early afternoon hours, we often are sleepy. We yawn, we fall asleep at meetings, or driving can be unsafe."

Stocks also adds that for healthy sleepers, the occasional afternoon snooze won't hurt.
