Tyler – Director of NASA’s Mars Education Program at Arizona State University, Sheri
Klug Boonstra, will conduct training for Tyler Independent School District teachers who
will participate in the Imagine Mars Project during the upcoming school year.
The Imagine Mars Project encourages hands-on learning. It is a Science, Technology,
Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)-based project that asks students to imagine and
design a community on Mars. In preparation for the project, Tyler ISD teachers will
participate in a variety of interactive activities during the training.
The upcoming school year will be the fourth year Tyler ISD students will work on the
Imagine Mars project. In the past, scientists have taken several ideas from Tyler ISD
students to their team meetings to use as inspiration for their work.
