Negotiations between Lufkin Industries, unions go down to the wire
Lufkin, TX — Lufkin Industries employees are nearing the end of a three-year contract, and negotiations with labor unions are ongoing.
The current contract is up on Sunday. Lufkin Industries is negotiating with the Brotherhood of Boilermakers, the Glass, Molders and Potters Union, and the International Association of Machinists.
Officials are tight-lipped about how the negotiations are going, and a Lufkin Industries executive on Thursday refused to comment, saying only, “The negotiations are at a critical point.” Attempts to reach union representatives for comment Thursday were unsuccessful.
The company and unions have been discussing contract conditions for the past several weeks. However, this is not the first time Lufkin Industries and the labor unions have gone up to the wire.
