Tyler, Texas (KETK) — Spring in East Texas brings flowers, garden tours and now, a new farmers market.
The Rose City Farmers Market, which will replace last year's downtown location, will debut Saturday, May 3, 2014 ,at Juls located at 7212 Old Jacksonville Highway, just south of Three Lakes Parkway.
Carmen Sosa, director of RCFM, tells KETK, she and Juls' Executive Chef Philipp Norsetter had been in talks for awhile about sourcing local ingredients in their menu. As the South Tyler hotspot began meeting with members of the East Texas Food Coalition, the progression to team up was natural.
"The city needs a driving farmers market tin south Tyler," said Sosa.
The market will provide the following to excited Tylerites:
Fresh produce all grown within 75 miles of Tyler
Free range eggs
Fresh baked goods including bread, cookies and cakes
Jam and jelly
Porch Culture coffee roasters
True Vine Rose City Pale Ale and cocktails
- Dog friendly with watering station
The market will be open starting May 3, every Tuesday and Saturday from 8:00 a.m., - 1:00 p.m, through November. Vendors will accept cash, WIC, SNAP and credit/debit cards as payment for produce.
The East Texas State Farmers Market will also be ready to serve the public at the fairgrounds in Tyler where many farmers will still sell their goods to residents.
