Starting on January 1st, college students who have not gotten their meningitis vaccinations will be required to do so at least ten days before they start the semester.

Health officials tell KETK... meningitis is deadly, and around sixteen percent of those who contract it die.

Meningitis shots have already been required by many colleges for those who live in campus dorms.

Doctors already recommend that children around eleven and twelve years old get the vaccination, too.

But now...*you may not be able to get the shot at your local health district.

The rules have changed.

They tell us.... unless you are nineteen years or older, and are under or uninsured, you will not be able to get vaccinated at the health district.
