The city of Longview has a new monument to pay tribute to fallen officers.

The $2,500 memorial was paid for by The Longview Association of Police Officers, it lists names of officers who died in the line of duty.

Public Information Officer Kristie Brian says the monument is special for officers and the community.

" It's very important to us for one, to just remind people how important those officers were at the time and still are today. Here at the police department, they come down to do whatever they need to do..it will be right there, they'll be able to look at , ask questions..I guess a little history for the police department."

The memorial features seven fallen officers who have died in the line of duty since 1886.
