TYLER - The Allstate Foundation found that domestic violence was up 23% in East Texas. In addition East Texas domestic violence cases have spiked every year for the last three years.

Statewide things don't look so good either. The 39 programs surveyed across the state showed an 84% increase this year.

Authors of the survey says domestic violence went up as the economy went down. Officials tell us they advise women who are in violent relationships to leave.

They say, in many of the cases they've seen, if an abusive spouse knows in advance the results can be dangerous.
