Tyler, Texas (KETK) — Two East Texans are bringing a new type of dining to Tyler. Fast, casual delivery service.
Brian Hays a graduate of UT Tyler noticed not a lot of the college kids had cars or means of getting around town to eat. So, Hays and his partner Zach Sanchez started Patriot Restaurant Delivery, where you can go on their website, order from a local restaurant and they'll bring your food right to your door. They just started this business about a year ago, but the last few months it's been taking off. Their restaurant partners right now are Cork, Newks, What about Kabob and Chengs, but their looking to add more restaurants even in the Longview area.
They're open Monday thru Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., but will be open seven days a week soon. They said this is the fastest growing sector in the restaurant business. All you have to do is give them a call or place an order online and they will be at your house with your order within 30 to 45 minutes. Delivery charge is only $2.99.
"We're the only delivery service in Tyler, we're coming in with a different concept and we're going to make it work" said Hays.
Don't worry about if your food will get cold, they have insulators for hot food and a cooler to keep your cold food fresh.
"It's kind of a luxury service, it's not something everybody needs, it's what a lot of people want," said Hays.
Cork owner Jon Florendo said they've been looking for a service like this for awhile.
"A lot of our customers, they've been asking for takeout food because they didn't want to come to Cork dressed up all the time they want to eat our food in their pajamas so PRD is a service we are looking for."
So, this gives Cork customers an opportunity to enjoy their food from their own couch.
"It's really good for business," said Florendo.
