New York plane crash sends several people to burn unit

A small plane with three people on board crashed Sunday near an airport on New York's Long Island, authorities said.
Multiple patients were airlifted to the burn unit of Stony Brook University Medical Center, a spokeswoman for the Suffolk County Police Department said.
She had no details on whether the injured people were passengers or were on the ground.
The plane crashed shortly before noon ET about a mile from the airport in a neighborhood near a vacant lot, a spokeswoman for the FAA, Kathleen Bergen, said. There was a fire at the crash scene, she said.
