No Ammo in Sight!

TYLER-We've told you about this trend before. Boxes of ammunition flying off shelves around the country. But now the ammo is becoming more precious than gold.

People in the ammunition industry and gun lovers alike say the current situation is unprecedented. Many say if this situation gets any worse, many gun store owners may have to close up shop.

There's endless amounts of theories about what is going on, but there is still no answer.

Mack Woods is the owner of The Shootist in Tyler and he told us the bottom line is gun shop owners can no longer pick up the phone and order ammunition or even some types of guns anymore.

Some shops are now having to ration inventory. For some this means selling bullets by the baggie instead of by the box.

Many people in the industry fear that if this shortage continues for much longer, there won't be anything else to sell and many will be out of business, Woods said.

"No one, no one has ever seen anything even vaguely close to it," Woods said. "The Y2K phenomenon of hoarding and Clinton's second term were not even a spit in the ocean compared to what's occurring."
